Suggestions.
We liked the game. Ages ranged from 8 to 64 years old. We were (like many here) unclear on the rules.) Our suggestions:
1. Have more defined rules. Deal the Whole deck etc.
maybe: side one for one deck, side two for using both decks.
2. Have more options for the "trump deck" so that you don't use all of them every hand. some of our thoughts: "no trump this round" "have the player to the left pick one of your cards at random" "Have the oldest at the table switch cards with the youngest at the table" "dealers choice" (dealer chooses which direction the cards get passed) As you can tell we liked passing the cards around - it was more fun to see how long we could keep our cards.
3. In the second deck maybe have a set of "9's" so that there is a high trump. (My brother says just use higher numbers in the second set)
Thank you for taking the time to read our thoughts on this.

i love it so much!!! thank you!!!
Totally agree with other comments
WOW! Our fam totally agrees with other comments. I wasted some time writing an email to complain about the rules and even that part was worthless...it wouldn't go through. We had no clue that there even were 2 decks in the pack and that we were supposed to use only 1. Once we had all the cards mixed, we realized that we had no clue how many cards to deal out...also not on the card. We are now wasting time on the computer when we could've simply read rules that came with the game (or NOT, in this case) and the website is also none too helpful. Also, rules 1 and 2 on the card have many identical words and was not necessary to write both of them out. Instead, why not include important details about there being 2 decks, not to use both with only 4 players, and how many cards to deal out?
Color Blind?
We love the game. Our personal issue is that we have friends who are color blind. Our suggestion would be to add the color in words on the deck to make game play easier for them. The only place the words of the colors are printed is on the trump deck.
Thank you,
Jessica
Good game
We just got the game, tried it this evening with kids from age 7 to 11, went very smoothly. We like it as a family game, the opportunity is there for the kids to develop strategic skills as they learn to anticipate which cards will be more important in following rounds as the various trump cards are revealed.
The rules that we received with the game were quite clear for us. Perhaps older editions were not as clear.
Which cards go in ONE deck?
After we shuffled the two decks together, we played and disliked the game due to the "tie" issue, I looked here. The website states that only one deck is to be used. We pulled out the doubles of the "suited" cards and separated them.
The problem arises when dealing with the trump cards. Which trump cards go in each deck. There is no way to tell by just looking.
tie issues
we play by if there is a tie like with 7 reds the second 7 red to play wins the trick
Print The FULL Rules
Dear Morff,
This game is NOT friendly to those who do not have the internet. Isn't that one of the pleasantries of a card game - that people who don't have the internet can still have fun playing a game together?
And yet...
Upon opening this wonderful game (because it IS fun), the "rules" that are printed on the card NEVER ONCE explain that both decks are not intended to be used at one time (which is normally assumed when one purchases a card game - take, say, every other possible card game for example). And they NEVER ONCE explain how many cards to deal out to each player.
Is not the number of cards dealt to each player potentially the most important part of a card game's instructions? I understand NOW after watching the video ONLINE that we're not supposed to use both decks, and that we're supposed to deal out every card. However, how arrogant of Morff to assume that everyone in the world has the internet to connect to and check on these VERY IMPORTANT card game instructions.
Thank you for allowing me to address my issue with the printed rules. Please, upon re-selling the game, have the COMPLETE RULES printed instead of asking everyone to connect to the internet to watch the Eureka! Ranch Games team explain how to play. Some of us are intelligent enough just to read instructions - as long as they're printed correctly.
Suggestions
After watching the video understand the game better. My suggestions are the same as the others. Need to say deal the whole deck, but, also explain that one deck in the box is for 4 people. Two decks are for 6 and more. We did not know that so we used both decks and that is where the same number being played is confusing. You really need to clarify your rules better.
Fun Variation
Just got the game and I don't even know why all those people had any problems. We just started playing right away, and after a few kamakazi's, we invented Strip-Morff. Instead of points, the winning team gets to pick an article of clothing that the other team has to take off, unless they have an article of clothing that was the same color as the last trump card, in which case they could choose to remove that instead. After we all got naked, we laughed our butts off and played with the original rules, and we still had fun! Thanks for the good time!
card games and alcohol...but seriously
What can make any card game better? Some good drinks!
In the right company, making any game into the strip version is even better.
On a more serious note:
I think the main confusion people are having is that the rules are written for people who have played a game such as rummy, spades, hearts, or euchre. Without any of those games as a primer, the terminology seems to be throwing people off.
I still don't see why the trump cards need to be laid out for all to see other than perhaps to card count on which suits have already been trump so as to better determine which cards to throw off.
I also agree that dealing all the cards out should have been stated, but the rules do imply it, the same as with playing spades. "The Morff cards are dealt to the players..." Just adding "All of" to the beginning might have helped people. As in, "All of the Morff cards are dealt out to the players".
I do like the idea of the tie breaker round for using both decks together.
...but seriously
Thanks for the thoughts -- we did do just what you suggested when the rules were rewritten for clarification during the second printing (a few months back) we add "All of."
