Trump Cards for "all to see"???

I don't understand why we need to see all the previous trump cards. Can someone please explain. Just bought the game yesterday and haven't yet played.

Its so that you can guess and eliminate what trump cards are still in the trump deck, so you have an idea of what might be coming next.
